OSTRails Commons
Enabling Interoperability through Curated Open Science Resources
The OSTrails Commons is a collection of open, reusable, and adaptable resources that collectively enable and enhance interoperability within the OSTrails and EOSC ecosystem.
Commons Components & Layers
The Commons is organised into five components, ensuring comprehensive coverage of all included resources. Every resource, whether directly supporting interoperability or serving as foundational infrastructure, is categorised within this structure. This framework encompasses the core PTA-related elements, supporting tools, and essential management resources to maintain and evolve the Commons effectively.
The Commons is organised into a layered structure that complements the core components (DMP, SKG, FAIR) and supporting tools. This approach ensures a systematic, modular framework where resources are categorised not only by their functional area but also by the type of technical or conceptual contribution they make. sation, whether it involves APIs for tool integration, data models for structured information exchange, or compliance mechanisms for evaluating adherence to the framework.

Related Outputs
The OSTrails project defines a Reference Architecture that guides how research data management components interact across:
Planning via DMP Platforms (machine-actionable DMPs)
Tracking via Scientific Knowledge Graphs (research outputs, and relationships)
Assessing via FAIR Assessment Tools (tests, results, and improvement guidance)
To enable these interactions without vendor lock-in, the project specifies three interoperability Frameworks (DMP-IF, SKG-IF, and FAIR-IF), each built on RDA recommendations and W3C standards.
